David Hayes is a Managing Director and Investment Committee member at Decarbonization Partners. In this role, David leads investment sourcing, underwriting, execution and portfolio management.

Decarbonization Partners is a joint venture by BlackRock and Temasek investing in leading technology companies, accelerating decarbonization across global industry and economies.

David currently serves on the board of ConnectDER (proprietary meter socket adapters) and XNRGY Climate Systems (thermal management solutions for critical infrastructure) and is a board observer for neustark (a Swiss-based carbon removal developer).

Prior to Decarbonization Partners, David spent 19+ years at bp, his last role being that of Managing Partner at bp Ventures where he led the commercial team. David joined bp in 2002 in London and held a number of roles within the finance organization before relocating to San Francisco as a member of the bp ventures team. David has 10+ years of investment experience across the global energy, materials and mobility sectors. He has been active across 100+ financing rounds within the bpventures portfolio. David is a qualified Certified Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
